GSP Joins Alay Lakad to Support Out-of-School Youth

Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) First National Vice President and Program Committee Chairperson Dr. Cristina Lim-Yuson, Central Luzon Regional Executive Director Angelita Manalili and Program Director Ginnie Oribiana together with around 500 Girl Scouts, Troop Leaders, Executives and staff from Metro Manila Councils, Central Luzon Region and National Headquarters participated in the Alay Lakad 2014 last September 7.

Alay Lakad Foundation, Inc. is an organization intended to alleviate the plight of the needy and disadvantaged Filipino youth. Mrs. Yolanda Hernandez, GSP Life Member and Assistant National Secretary is also the Corporate Secretary of the Alay Lakad Foundation, Inc.

Alay Lakad is a yearly walk conducted nationwide participated by civic-minded citizens in every city or municipality. The activity calls for two kinds of participation, a hiker who walks along prescribed routes and/or as a sponsor who provides financial support to fund socio-economic projects the out-of-school youth. This year’s theme was “Lakad Para sa Kinabukasan”.

Girl Scouts belonged to the Walk Group 1-A. The walk started at the Planetarium in Padre Burgos Road and ended at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta.

Gespie, the GSP’s official Mascot, walked with the Girl Scout delegation. Cadet Girl Scout Gerilou Gonzales from Manila Council rendered the Doxology. Rosario Dorcas Malaluan, Lea Segarra and Megan Villoria of the GSP National Headquarters served as judges during the parade.
