Tang Project RecyClass – A Success

Malinta Elementary School (MES) with 1.3 million pieces of foil packs collected receives their prizes from Tang Philippines.

Tang Project RecyClass Culminating and Awards Ceremony was held at the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) National Headquarters, Pilar Hidalgo Lim Auditorium last September 3.

90 Junior Girl Scouts from different councils and GSP members led by GSP’s 1st National Vice-President and Program Committee Chairperson, Dr. Cristina Lim Yusonand GSP’s National Executive Director Ma. Dolores Santiago attendedthe ceremony.

Tang Project RecyClass is a collaborative project initiated by Tang Galing Club. From the term “RecyClass”, the project’s goal is to promote ‘recy’cling to the students for them to produce ‘class’room chairs that various public schools need.

GSP was given a token of appreciation and recognition byMondelez Philippines (producer of Tang Philippines) awarded by Ms. Michelle Santillan, Brand Manager of Tang because of GSP’s outstanding support to the campaign. GSP was the key mobilizer in 51 schools who participated in the project. Girl Scouts from different schools joined the project and encouraged their fellow students to participate in the valuable campaign.

Malinta Elementary School (MES) from Valenzuela City won with 1.3 million pieces of foil packs collected. Mrs. Fe Padrinao, MES Institutional Head received the award for the school. Ms. Caridad Labe, Director III, Officer-in-Charge at the Office of the Regional Director DepEd Region IV-B also witnessed the awarding.

The Tang Project RecyClass succeeded to recycle 10 million pieces of foil packs into 10,000 classroom chairs that were distributed to the needy public schools nationwide.

Along with GSP, Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and National Youth Commission (NYC) also collaborated with Tang Philippines for the successful campaign.
