The Girl Scouts of the Philippines participated in the 56th Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA) and 17th Jamboree-on-the-Internet (JOTI) on October 19, 2013. The event was conducted by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in coordination with the Philippine Amateur Radio Association (PARA).
Twelve National Headquarters staff together with 17 Senior Girl Scouts from Makati and Pasig Council joined the event at the GSP Scouts Ham Radio Enthusiast for Service (SHARES), GSP National Headquarters, Manila.
Dr. Salud Bagalso, GSP National President said in her message that Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are united in building global friendship and collaborating to achieve the common goal of sending the message of universal peace, love, and harmony regardless of cultural background, religious beliefs, and political ideology. She also added that both organizations build relationships that are based on mutual respect and compassion and through scouting, these relationships will endure and bring about lasting peace.
JOTA and JOTI are held annually every 3rd Saturday of October. Through this activity, Junior, Senior and Cadet Girl Scouts have the opportunity to communicate with other Girl Scouts/Girl Guides and Boy Scouts in the country and abroad through the ham radio and the internet.
