In 1948, the GSP Executive Committee created the Josefa Llanes Escoda Memento Fund Committee with Zenaida Quezon Buencamino, daughter of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon, as its first Chairperson. The Committee was to raise funds for delegates
to international events.
From 1965 to 1991, National Executive Director Mariquita Castelo was appointed steward of the Fund. Other Chairpersons who handled the Fund Committee included Asuncion Flores (+), Teresita B. Choa, Dr. Ligaya P. Jorge, Fe S. Llanos, Felicidad Santos (+), Dr. Martha Mogol (+), and Yolanda C. Hernandez (+). At present, the Chairperson of the Committee is ___________________, who is concurrently
Asst. National Secretary and Central Board member.
The Escoda Memento Fund is a voluntary fund specifically reserved to support the participation of girl and adult delegates of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in international projects/events. These include exchange programs, training, camps, and regional and world conferences to promote international friendship and understanding and foster peace and harmony among sister Guides and Girl Scouts around the world.
As a Member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) with 145 member organizations, GSP has the privilege to participate in events initiated by this Member-Association.
