Girl Scouts of the Philippines’ external involvement


The first quarter of 2013 saw the Girl Scouts of the Philippines’ active involvement in external events.

Run for Juan, Run for Good Governance

The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) participated last February 24 at the People Power Monument in EDSA, Quezon City for the “Run for Juan, Run for Good Governance”, a benefit run for the victims of typhoon Pablo. The 5k run was from 5 to 8 a.m. followed by the writing of vows for the nation on the pledge wall.

“Run for Juan, Run for Good Governance” was hosted by the EDSA People Power Commission in support of nation building and uplifting Filipino lives.

Girl Scouts and Troop Leaders receive the Siglat Eskwela Award

The Vigan City provincial government awarded Girl Scouts and troop leaders the Siglat Eskwela Award during the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival last February 2. The prestigious award recognizes the achievements of individual students, including schools, in various fields of discipline.

The Outstanding Girl Scouts awardees were Diana Rose Vivit, Sulot-Sulot National High School; Rachel Fuller, Lussoc National High School; Denille Clarette Riego, Ilocos Sur National High School and Sheila Gascon, Sinait National High School.

Awarded Outstanding Troop Leaders were Elvira Rabang, Ilocos National High School; Lorna Tacata, Lussoc National High School and Melina Sieldad, Sulot-Sulot National High School.

Other awards included the Father Jose Burgos, the Siglat Search and the Siglat Hall of Fame.
